Information
Decumbent perennial, rooting at the lower nodes; culms 30–100 cm. high. Leaf-blades narrowly lanceolate, 5–15 cm. long, 5–15 mm. wide. Panicle diffuse, 10–25 cm. long, with capillary branches; pedicels much longer than the spikelets, terete, scaberulous, hirsute (but glabrous in Tanzania). Spikelets 1.5–2 mm. long, hispidulous; lower glume acute; upper lemma distinctly crested. Fig. 122.

DISTR. U2; T3, 6 western Africa from Senegal to Angola
Altitude range
0–200 m.

Notes
The panicle-branches of Tanzanian specimens are atypically glabrous, but the long scaberulous pedicels and hairy spikelets leave no doubt that they should be included in C. chaetophoron.
