Information
Prostrate herb; stems striate, sparsely pubescent and with capitate glandular hairs; tendrils present. Leaves 3(5)-foliolate; sessile or subsessile; leaflet-lamina up to 5 × 3 cm. (in median leaflet, lateral leaflets less than 1/2 the size of the terminal), narrowly obovate to obovate, apex obtuse or acute, margin irregularly serrate-crenate with glandular serrations, base cuneate, sparsely pilose or glabrescent above with capitate-glandular hairs, sparsely pilose and capitate-glandular especially on the nerves below; petiolules up to 1 cm. long on the median leaflet; stipules up to c. 1 cm. long, lanceolate, sparsely pubescent, margins usually glandular. Cymes on short side-branches, lax, trichotomous; peduncle up to 3 cm. long, indumentum as for stems; pedicels up to 5 mm. long, pubescent and with capitate-glandular hairs; bracts and bracteoles c. 2 mm. long, linear, pubescent. Flower-bud c. 2·5 mm. long, oblong-cylindric, constricted near the middle, pilose or glabrescent. Calyx 0·5 mm. long, subentire, pilose. Ovary glabrous or with a few glands; style c. 1·5 mm. long; stigma indistinct. Fruit (immature) ellipsoid, glabrous or with a few glands.

Notes
The Indian material has glandular hairs but seems to lack pubescent hairs on stems, inflorescence, etc. As African material is often glabrescent there seems little reason for making any distinction between Indian and African material.
