Information
Climbing herb; stems pubescent, or in one subspecies with capitate-glandular hairs also; tendrils present. Leaves 3–5-foliolate; petiole up to 5(8) cm. long, indumentum as for stems; leaflet-lamina up to c. 13 × 7·5 cm., ovate, broadly elliptic or elliptic, apex rounded or acute, margin serrate or crenate-serrate, base cuneate or rounded, ± pubescent on both sides; petiolules 0–3 cm. long; stipules up to c. 1 cm. long, lanceolate or ovate, falcate, pubescent. Cymes on short side-branches, lax, di- or trichotomous; peduncle up to c. 9 cm. long, pubescent; pedicels c. 3 mm. long, pubescent. Flower-bud 2–3 mm. long, oblong-cylindric, constricted near the middle, ± densely pubescent. Calyx 0·5 mm. long, pubescent. Ovary pubescent; style 1·5–2 mm. long, apex minutely bifurcate. Fruit up to c. 9 × 7 mm., ellipsoid, pubescent. Seed 1, c. 8 × 6 mm., obovoid, slightly rugose.Cape Province, Natal, Transvaal, SW. Africa, Bechuanaland Prot., S. Rhodesia and Nyasaland.
