Range
This species, a native of Peru, is cultivated and often becomes naturalized in many parts of the tropics. In Africa it occurs particularly in the E. and SE. Attention is drawn to the first record from W. Africa (Cam. Mt., Mann’s Spring, fl. & fr. Dec. 1959, Morton K852: "small tree 15 ft. high in moist forest, fl. very pale pinkish, fr. plum-shaped, orange") as it may soon become widely naturalized in our area.
