Glumes 2–2.5 mm long, triangular-ovate, light to medium reddish brown with an indistinct paler margin, with 5–7 prominent narrow nerves on each side of the midrib that is thickened above and excurrent into a short (to 0.5 mm long) slightly recurved mucro, glabrous except for the often scabrid midrib. Stamens 3. Style 2.5–3 mm long, with 3 branches.
