Information
Slender perennial with swollen stem-bases covered by fibrous remains of old sheaths; stems 2–15 cm long and 0.2–0.5 mm thick, terete to triangular, glabrous. Leaf-blades to 10 cm long and 0.4–0.6 mm wide, flat or channelled, scabrid on margin. Inflorescence a congested dense anthela with up to 30 spikelets, 4–10 mm in diam.; involucral bracts 3–4, spreading or reflexed. Spikelets 2–6 x c. 1 mm, linear-elliptic, 18–25-flowered. Glumes 0.7–1 x 0.4–0.5 mm, ovate, whitish to light brown, indistinctly nerved; midrib excurrent into a short thickened mucro. Stamen 1. Style 3-branched. Nutlet obovate to subglobose, 0.3–0.4 x 0.2–0.4 mm, obscurely trigonous, dark greyish brown, minutely papillose.
