Information
glabrous, weak; stems 2–3 in. long, tufted on the apex of a shortly-divided, slender rhizome, thickened at the base by numerous pale, rust-coloured sheaths; leaves nearly as long as the stem, 1/20 in. broad, flaccid; bracts 2, lower up to 1 in. long, similar to the leaves; spikelets 7–1, sessile in one head, 1/4– 1/3 in. long and broad, much compressed, 12-flowered; glumes close-packed, boat-shaped, ovate, strongly 7-nerved, rose-red, surmounted by a subterminal, lanceolate-linear, recurved mucro longer than the glume; stamens 3–2; nut 1/2 as long as the glume without the mucro, triquetrous, ovoid, acute, subacuminate at the top, dark-brown, almost rough from the reticulated white, superficial cells; style shorter than nut; branches 3, long linear. null
