Notes
This species is tolerably uniform in South Africa, but in Tropical Africa it varies greatly in the width of the leaves and in the size of the spikelets. Some examples have needle-like stem and leaves, and one very small spikelet, others have leaves 1/5 in. wide, others have spikelets 1 by 3/8 in. The distribution will require emendation, if the species be subdivided.
