Information
spikelets rather larger, up to 3/4 by 1/8 in., more brightly coloured, often somewhat lanceolate (not linear) at the base; glumes rather more distant, their tips less closely imbricated in fruit; nut rather larger (otherwise as P. polystachyus, Beauv. var. β laxiflora, Benth.). null
Range
Scattered throughout Africa and South-east Asia: in Tropical America and extending north to Canada, i.e. the American Cyperus Nuttallii, C. Spreng., seems to me identical with the South African Pycreus ferrugineus.
