Notes
Cynometra alexandri, known as Uganda Ironwood, produces a heavy timber of some importance. Its main area of distribution in Uganda is U2; the only specimen that I have seen from U4 is Brasnett 128, which is perhaps from a deliberately planted tree. The Tanganyika specimens, in fruit only or sterile, differ somewhat in aspect from the Uganda ones, but seemingly not in any significant way.Various specimens from the Kivu Province of the Congo Republic have 8 or sometimes 10 leaflets, and probably represent a local race or variant; the pedicels of these may be up to 16 mm. long. This variant is to be sought in East Africa.
