Cuscuta planiflora var. approximata Bab. Engelm. [family CUSCUTACEAE], in Trans Acad. Sci St. Louis 1: 465 (1859).—Verdc. in F.T.E.A., Convolvulaceae: 10 (1963). Type a specimen cultivated in England, from seed from Afghanistan.
Cuscuta approximata Bab. [family CUSCUTACEAE], in Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist. 13: 253 (1844).—Yuncker in Mem. Torr. Bot. Club 18: 295, fig. 158 (1932). Type as above.
Cuscuta rhodesiana Yuncker [family CUSCUTACEAE], in Bull. Torr. Bot. Club 84: 429 (1957). Type: Zambia, Ndola, Young 53 (BM, holotype).
Information
Flowers and clusters larger than in var. planiflora. Calyx 3–4·5 mm. across when flattened out, shorter than the corolla tube. Corolla 2–4 mm. long; tube up to 3 mm. long; lobes acute or rather obtuse. Styles and stigmas together about 1–1·3 mm. long; stigmas equalling or twice as long as the styles.
Habitat
Parasitic on herbaceous plants of river banks and swampy places.

North Africa, Kenya, Tanzania extending to Asia
