Information
Stem with long yellow-brown (or rarely white) spreading hairs. Bracts mostly 4–10 mm long. Calyx lobes spreading pilose. Seeds smooth, dark olive-green.
Habitat
Montane forest margins and secondary associations, grassland, disturbed places, readily becomes a weed of cultivation
Range
Principally in the highlands of eastern Africa and Madagascar, but with scattered records in western Africa and doubtfully in South America.
