Information
Erect annual 20–90 cm tall, with generally numerous slender ascending branches; stem appressed pubescent. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets 8–20 × 2–5 mm, linear-oblanceolate to oblong-oblanceolate, mostly rounded to truncate at the apex, appressed pubescent beneath; petiole 2–9 mm long; stipules 0. Racemes 3–13 cm long, subdensely to laxly 10–30-flowered; bracts 1–2 mm long, linear to linear-lanceolate; pedicel 2–4 mm long, sometimes with minute bracteoles. Calyx 2.5–3.5 mm long, brownish tomentose; upper lobes triangular, 1–1.5 times as long as the tube. Standard obovate, pale yellow, veined brown, golden-brown tomentose outside; wings ± as long as the keel; keel 4–6 mm long, angular, with a narrow twisted beak slightly incurved at the tip. Pod sessile, 5–6 mm long, ovoid-globose, pubescent, 1–2-seeded. Seeds 2 mm long, ovate-cordiform, smooth, brown to purplish, with a prominent aril.

With a wide but rather scattered distribution in tropical Africa, from Senegal to Ethiopia, south to Angola, Dem. Rep. Congo (Katanga) and the Flora Zambesiaca area

Notes
Mutimushi 84, 1366 and 2596 (all K; NDO) from Kitwe seem to represent a distinct local form in which the racemes are unusually contracted.
