Information
Shrub 1–3(5) m tall, with tomentose branches in the Flora Zambesiaca area. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets mostly 2.5–5(8) × 1–2(2.7) cm, oblanceolate-elliptic, elliptic or obovate-oblong, subglabrous to pilose above, rather densely silky pilose beneath; petioles mostly 0.8–3 cm long; stipules up to 1 mm long, subulate, or lacking. Racemes with many fairly closely arranged flowers; bracts 1–3 mm long, shortly caudate-lanceolate; bracteoles on the upper part of the pedicel, small. Calyx 3.5–5 mm long, densely appressed pilose; lobes narrowly triangular, ± as long as the tube. Standard broadly elliptic to subcircular, yellow, glabrous; wings ± as long as the keel or a little shorter; keel rounded about the middle (except in Asia), with an incurved narrow beak, 9–11 mm long in Africa, smaller elsewhere. Pod with a 2–3 mm long stipe 8–11 × 5–7 mm in Africa (sometimes smaller elsewhere), subglobose-ellipsoid, tomentose in Africa, 2-seeded; style very persistent. Seeds 3–4 mm long, oblique-cordiform, smooth, light brown.
