CRINUM corradii Chiov. [family AMARYLLIDACEAE], (1951);. type: S1, “Baidoa”, Corradi 4634 (FT holo.).
Information
Bulbs 10–25 cm in diam., often with a considerable neck. Leaves glaucous, broadly lanceolate, 10–60 x 4–10 cm at anthesis, ± prostrate, without a distinct midrib, most leaves without intact apices. Scape 10–40 cm long, produced with the leaves; bracts greyish and papery, early drooping. Flowers 6–10, subsessile to distinctly pedicellate, heavily scented, greenish pink in bud; tube greenish to crimson, curved, 8–12 cm long; perianth segments white with a faint pink not sharply bordered dorsal band, broadly lanceolate, 8–11 x c. 2–3 cm, forming a bell, with reflexed outer parts during anthesis. Filaments white, shorter than the perianth segments; anthers dark grey to black, c. 10 mm long, curved. Style white, tinged pink distally. Fruits green, fading to dull yellow, with thin pericarp closely investing the seeds, giving an irregular undulate surface, often distinctly beaked by the remains of the perianth tube. Seeds greenish, covered with a silvery-grey water repellent membrane making them very smooth, 20–60, variable in shape and size, often flattened, often germinating already within the fruit.

Notes
The type specimen of C. corradi is extremely depauperate and difficult to interpret. It is also similar to C. ornatum, but geographical considerations support the chosen synonymy, as C. ornatum, in Somalia, has been recorded only from the extreme north.
