Perennials with decumbent branches up to 0,3 m long, with old leaves not deciduous. Leaves sessile, elliptic, 40-65 x 25-40 mm, acute to cuspidate, angustate, dorsiventrally flattened, with recurved margin slightly cre-nulate at least when young, with two pairs of leaves often clustered below inflorescence, dark green with light spots mainly along veins above, and purplish maroon below. Inflorescence a rounded or slightly elonÂgated thyrse with several dichasia with 5- or 4-merous flowers spreading at about right angles to one another, with peduncles 40-80 mm long. Calyx: lobes linear-triangular, 1,5—2 mm long, pointed, almost terete, glaÂbrous, green often tinged red. Corolla star-shaped, fused at base for about 2 mm, palp yellowish green with red central vein on outÂside; lobes lanceolate, 3-4,5 mm long, sharply acute, more or less hooded and with dorsal ridge, spreading far apart. Stamens with yellow anthers. Squamae transversely oblong, 0,3-0,4 x 0,6-0,7 mm, truncate, somewhat constricted downwards, fleshy, pale yellow.
