stem annual, many times dichotomous, fastigiate, glabrous or nearly so; leaves connate, linear or linear-lanceolate, obtuse, glabrous; flowers minute, solitary in the forks of the stem, the terminal ones cymoso-paniculate or subglomerate, all minutely pedicellate; calyx-lobes shorter than the corolla, ovate-oblong, obtuse, glabrous, fleshy; petals connate at base, oblong or laterally concave, obtuse; styles shortly subulate; ovary roughish; squamæ cuneate. Like C. glomerata, but more laxly panicled, with narrower leaves and shorter calyx-lobes. Stems 2–4 inches high; leaves 2–3 lines long, 1/2 line wide.
