Perennials with decumbent branches up to 0,2 m long, thin and wiry or carnose, much branched, usually covered with erect hair-like papillae at least on young branches, rarely with peeling bark on old stems, with old leaves not deciduous. Leaves linear-lanceolate, 5-15(-20) x l-2(-3) mm, sharply acute, dorsiventrally compressed or slightly convex above or beÂlow, glabrous, green to brown, rarely red. Inflorescence an almost flat-topped dicha-sium, rarely thyrsoid with several dichasia, with few to numerous flowers, usually withÂout distinct peduncle. Calyx: lobes narrowly triangular, 2-3(-4) mm long and often of unequal length, glabrous, ridged and someÂwhat fleshy, green or tinged red. Corolla tuÂbular, fused at base 0,1-0,2 mm, white or cream; lobes lanceolate-oblong, (3-)4—5(-6) mm long, acute, with dorsal ridge, recurved. Stamens with brown anthers. Squamae tranversely oblong, 0,2-0,4 x 0,4-0,6 mm, truncate or slightly emarginate, scarcely tapering, fleshy, yellow.
