Information
stem succulent, suffruticose, simple, mostly glabrous except under the uppermost nodes; leaves connate at base, ovate or oblong, acute or obtuse, spreading, glabrous, cartila-gineo-ciliate; cyme corymbiform, densely much branched with scabrous branches; calyx-lobes lanceolate, acute, glabrous, smooth-edged; petals slightly connate at base, linear oblong, dorsally mucronate, not much exceeding the stamens; styles subulate; squamæ minute. Stem robust, 1–2 feet high, densely leafy; with reflexed, appressed bristles beneath the uppermost nodes, sometimes scabrous throughout. Leaves decidedly connate, 1–1 1/2 inch long, 1/2– 3/4 inch wide, squarrose. Cyme very dense, flat-topped, 3–5 inches wide. Flowers white, 4–5 lines long, calyx 1/2 as long as petals.
