Information
Annual herb 0.2–1.8 m high; stems often striped reddish below, simple or branched, sparsely pubescent or glabrous. Leaves ovate to deltoid in outline, bipinnatisect, 3–8 cm long, 2–4 cm wide, segments linear or narrowly lanceolate, 1–4.5 mm wide, hispid-pubescent mainly on main vein and margins; petiole to 20 mm long. Capitula terminal, in lax cymes; peduncle to 6 cm long; involucre 3–5 mm long; outer phyllaries 5–10, pubescent and punctate, inner phyllaries 6–8, orange-brown, sparsely hairy; paleae yellow-brown, 3–5 mm long. Ray florets yellow, neuter, 5–8, rays 4–12x3.5–5 mm, striate, tube 0.8–1.3 mm long; disc florets yellow, 2.5–4 mm long. Achenes black, 1.8–3.6 mm long, hairy or glabrous, margins often with corky wings; aristae 2, antrorsely barbed, (1–)2–4 mm long or sometimes absent.
