Information
Prostrate or scrambling, glabrescent to pubescent herb with stems up to 3 m. long. Leaves ovate, up to 7 cm. long, 4 cm. wide, the base shallowly cordate, truncate orcuneate, apex acute to obtuse; margins entire to sinuate; petioles up to 2 cm. long. Inflorescence a dense many-flowered head, on a long stout peduncle up to 23 cm.; flowers subsessile, but pedicels enlarging in fruit up to 4(–10) mm. long. Flowers infundibuliform, 8–10 mm. long, 7–10 mm. wide; upper perianth magenta to purple, with a green base, 6–8 mm. long. Stamens 3–6, exserted. Style exserted. Anthocarp clavate, 8–11 mm. long, 2.5–4 mm. wide, with ± 5 thick stalked glands around the apex and a few scattered sessile glands below.
