Creeping, perennial herb with rather stout stems rooting at nodes, elliptic to lanceolate leaves, spathes crowded 2 or more together at ends of stems, flowers very pale blue or violet almost white, open from dawn until nearly noon, and capsules with 3 single-seeded loculi;usually in forest, sometimes in open.
