Information
a much-branched shrub, 6–8 ft. high, glabrous in all its parts; leaves alternate, subopposite or opposite, shortly petioled, oblong, 1–3 in. long, mucronate, narrowed to the base, rigidly coriaceous, glaucous, veins (except the midrib) immersed and almost invisible; male flowers in shortly peduncled axillary umbellate cymes; bracts minute, lanceolate; pedicels larger than the flowers; buds globose, 1/2 lin. in diam.; perianth-lobes 3 or 4, ovate-triangular, with a conspicuous disc; female flowers usually solitary; berry oblong, scarlet, the size of a small pea. null
