much-branched; twigs very thinly pubescent; leaves rather crowded, sub-erect, linear, keeled and sub-triangular, with a recurved mucro, the diaphanous margin serrulate; bracts and calyx-lobes acuminate; petals oblongo-spathulate, acuminate. 6 inches to 3 feet high. Leaves 3–3 1/2 lines long, 1/3 line wide. Flowers axillary or terminal, as large as in C. album, from which this species is known by its more slender branches, smaller and narrower leaves, with recurved points, rather narrower and more acuminate petals, and smaller capsules, not twice as long as the calyx.
