Information
glaucous, the stem rough with minute-hooked prickles; lower leaves on longish petioles, 7- foliolate, upper on shorter petioles 3–5-foliolate; leaflets very narrow-linear, obtuse; petals unequal, obovate; fertile stamens 2, sterile 6, shorter, with a conical-oblong appendicule; pods linear, pendulous, glabrous. Annual, 2 feet high, slender, armed in the lower part with rigid, recurved prickles; branches erecto-patent, striate. Middle leaflets an inch long, 1/2 line wide. Flowers rosy (?), size of the preceding. Pedicels 8 lines long. Pods 2–2 1/2 inches long, 1 1/2 lines wide; style beaklike, 2 lines long; thecaphore 4 lines long. Seeds as in D. Petersiana.
Distribution
SOUTH AFRICA Gattikamma, Feb., Burchell. Stony hills at Zwartbulletze and at Gamkeriver, 2500–3000f. Drege. (Herb. Sond.)
