shrubby; stems 1/2–3 ft. long, much-branched; branches virgate, leafy; leaves opposite, decussate, flat, oblong-lanceolate or lanceolate or sublinear, obtuse or subacute, usually villous-pubescent on both sides, 1–1 1/2 or rarely 2 in. long, 2–5 lin. wide; flowers usually in 3-flowered, sometimes 5-flowered cymes, or solitary; peduncles pubescent, 1/3– 1/2 in. long; calyx pubescent outside, 6 lin. long, divided half-way; lobes obtuse or rarely subacute; corolla rose-pink; tube as long as calyx, narrow fusiform; lobes obovate-obtuse, 10 lin. long, 5–6 lin. wide; anthers twisted; ovary 3 lin. long, acute; capsule 4 lin. long, 2 1/2 lin. wide. null
