Notes
As Faden op. cit. states, this variety behaves as a distinct species in E Africa, but seems to be indistinguishable from smaller-pinnuled specimens of the South African var. macrophylla with which I have felt obliged to associate it. Schelpe annotated Holst 9163 as intermediate with var.? macrophylla. Hieronymus had labelled this as “ Pteridella viridis var. canonica Kunze”. Schelpe and N.C. Anthony do not record it from north of Natal.
