Information
Annual. Culms 5–80 cm. high, erect or ascending. Panicle 2–8.5 cm. long; involucre 5.5–10 mm. long, connate for 1/3–2/3 its length to form a cup cleft on 2 sides; inner spines flattened, ± pubescent, retrorsely barbellate, pungent; outer spines triangular, arising irregularly from the surface of the bur. Spikelets 2–4 per bur, 3.5–6 mm. long. Superior lemma thinly coriaceous.
