Information
Nearly glabrous; stem 1–2 ft. high. Leaves 1 1/2 by 1/3 in., oblong. Spikes terminal, 1/2– 2/3 in. wide, dense, scarious straw-coloured, cylindric or ovoid. Perianth 1/4 in. long; segments broadly oblong, subacute, 3-nerved on the back. Staminal tube divided at the top into 5 broadly ovate segments, rounded at the top; on the summit of each is a minute linear filament carrying the oblong anther. Style rather short (hardly half the length of the young capsule), with 3 short recurved branches. Capsule narrowly ellipsoid, several-seeded.
