Notes
Specimens with glabrous and with puberulous inflorescences occur throughout the range. Further information about the fruits is much needed as it seems that there are two apparently distinct types. Workers should look out for any possible correlation between the variations in size and shape of the leaves, indumentum of the inflorescence, form of the fruits and habit of the trees. At present such correlation is not apparent. Research is needed into the occurrence of C. procera DC. in tropical America; also to confirm that C. de Candolle was correct in applying the name to our West African plant.
