Information
Plants to 25 cm tall, sparsely branched from a short central stem c. 20 mm thick, greyish-green, with rounded blackish-green angles and marginal 2–4 mm long conical teeth; flower-bearing portion of stems fleshy, about 4 mm thick, circular in section, with regular, rather closely-set constrictions. Flowers pendent in few-flowered clusters from the constrictions in the upper portion of the stems; pedicels ca. 5 mm long, filiform. Corolla deep purplish red inside, glaucous green with purple markings outside, with a short tube and narrow, claw-shaped, erect lobes with incurved connivent tips, c. 6 mm long, with numerous, stiff, dark purple hairs along margins. Corona relatively long, protruding from corolla-tube; outer lobes erect or slightly inflexed; inner lobes incumbent on the anthers, connivent-erect in upper part.
