Information
Shrub or tree 2–10 m tall; young branches square in section, often slightly winged on the angles, usually glabrous or rarely puberulous; bark fawn-coloured or greyish.Leaf blades 3–10.5 × 1.3–5 cm, narrowly to broadly elliptic or less often obovate, acute or more often gradually acuminate at apex, acute or occasionally obtuse at base, coriaceous, very shiny on upper surface, glabrous; lateral nerves in (4)5 main pairs; tertiary nerves obscure, or if apparent then coarsely reticulate; domatia absent or inconspicuous; petioles 2–3 mm long; stipules 3–7(10) mm long, triangular at base, terminating in a linear keeled decurrent lobe.Flowers 4–5-merous, borne in sessile to subsessile, 7–50-flowered umbel-like cymes; peduncle if present not exceeding 3 mm long; pedicels 2–7 mm long, pubescent; bracteoles inconspicuous.Calyx tube 1–2 mm long, glabrous or puberulous; limb reduced to a shortly toothed rim.Corolla whitish; tube 2–2.5 mm long, with a ring of deflexed hairs above the mid-point inside; lobes 3–3.5 × 1.5 mm, oblong-lanceolate, acute.Anthers reflexed, narrowly oblong.Style 4–6 mm long; pollen presenter 1.25–1.5 mm long; disk glabrous. Fruit 5–6.5 × 6–7.5 mm, scarcely indented or slightly prominent at the apex, black when mature.Pyrene 6 × 4–4.5 mm, almost semi-circular in outline, with a lateral groove beneath the point of attachment, rugulose to bullate.
