Information
Perennial climber or trailer, up to several m long. Leaflets ovate, broadly elliptic or subcircular, 3.2–10(–20) x 2.4–12(–13.7) cm, rounded at the apex or with a short acute tip, sparsely pubescent or glabrous on both surfaces. Calyx-tube 8–11 mm long; upper lip c. 3–4 mm long, rounded or emarginate. Corolla pink or purple, 2.5–3.5 cm long. Pod ± oblong-semicircular, the edges not parallel, 8–12 x 3–4.5 cm, with longitudinal ribs close to the upper margin. Seeds 1.4–1.8 cm long, dark brown; hilum 9–14 mm long.
Range
S2, 3 coast of East Africa, Seychelles, widespread in tropical Asia and the Pacific.
Altitude range
c. 5 m.

Notes
Cultivated as a sand binder in S2.
