leaf-sheaths with long white hair in their throats, but much less than in B. collina; heads and flower-glumes without long white hair; spikelets rather narrowly lanceolate, acute; nut narrower than that of B. collina; otherwise as B. collina. null

Notes
This may be made a var. of B. collina; but the two plants do not match; in B. collina the heads are subovoid; in B. cardiocarpa the lanceolate separate tips of the spikelets stick out almost stellately from the heads.
