acaulescent, perennial, with a short, thick, tuberous rootstock; leaves 10–20, subterete from a dilated clasping base 1/2 in. broad, 1/2–1 ft. long, 1/12– 1/8 in. thick at the middle, glaucous, tapering to the point, nearly flat on the face; peduncle 1/2–1 ft. long, ancipitous towards the base; raceme dense, sometimes 1/2 ft. long, 1 1/2–2 in. diam.; lower pedicels erecto-patent, 1/2– 3/4 in. long; bracts lanceolate-deltoid with a long cusp; perianth bright yellow, 1/4– 1/3 in. long; capsule turbinate, 1/6 in. diam.; seeds 3–4 in a cell. null
