Information
bulb ovoid, the size of a walnut; leaves 3–6, produced after the flowers, oblong or lingulate, spreading or suberect, 4–6 in. long, 2 1/2 in. broad, subcoriaceous, with an entire thickened scabrous margin and close strong ribs; peduncle 6–8 in. long, 1/2 in. diam.; flowers 10–20 in a dense umbel, 1/2 ft. diam.; pedicels slender, 1–3 in. long; spathe-valves ovate, 1–1 1/2 in. long; perianth bright red or rose-red, erect, 1–1 1/4 in. long, with a cylindrical, straight tube about 1/4 in. long and oblong-lanceolate, acute segments 1/4 in. broad; stamens distinctly exserted; ovary turbinate, under 1/2 in. long; style finally exserted 1/2– 3/4 in.; capsule turbinate, triquetrous. null
