BRIDELIA somalensis Hutch. [family EUPHORBIACEAE], (1931);. type: N2, “Marojeh” in Ahl Mts (10°54’N, 48°59’E), Collenette 224 (K holo.).
Information
Multistemmed shrub or small tree 2–4.5(–7) m high; bark smooth, grey; glabrous except for stipule margins. Petiole 3–7 mm, dark; stipules ± triangular, up to 3.5 x 1 mm, margin minutely hairy; leaf-blade oblong-elliptic to lanceolate or oblanceolate, 5.5–7.5 x 2–3.5 cm, base rounded to truncate, tip acute to rounded, lateral veins 10–14 each side, looping or branching before margin, tertiary veins prominent, ± parallel, underside prominently reticulate, upper side blackish when dried, underside grey. Flowers similar to those of B. cathartica. Ripe fruits with 2 pyrenes, globose, c. 6.5 mm diam., yellow.
