Information
Sward-forming perennial; culms procumbent, ± 10 cm. high. Leaf-blades narrowly lanceolate, 1–3 cm. long, 2–6 mm. wide. Inflorescence ovate, of 4–8 racemes on an axis 0.5–2 cm. long; racemes 0.5–3 cm. long, bare at the base, bearing the spikelets singly on pedicels ± as long as the spikelet, the rhachis slender triquetrous and pilose. Spikelets elliptic, 1.5–2 mm. long, glabrous, acute, without a stipe; lower glume 1/8–1/4 the length of the spikelet, obtuse to emarginate; upper lemma papillose, acute.
Range
DISTR. T6 Madagascar and the Indian Ocean Islands. Introduced as a lawn grass to several localities in southern Africa.
