Information
Perennial herb, 0.6–1.3 m high, erect to decumbent; stem single from a woody tuberous rootstock, little branched, glabrous. Leaves lanceolate to ovate, 5–15 cm long, 1–3 cm wide, base long attenuate but wider near stem, margins coarsely dentate to shallowly pinnately lobed, apex acute to attenuate, glandular-punctate, scabrid on both surfaces; pseudopetiole to 35 mm long. Capitula terminal, solitary or few in lax cymes; stalks of individual capitula to 16 cm long; involucre 8–11 mm long; outer phyllaries 8, green, pilose, the inner 8, pilose; paleae 7–8.5 mm long. Ray florets yellow, neuter, 6–8, tube to 3 mm long, rays 15–18x7–8 mm; disc florets yellow, 5.5–6 mm long, pilose. Achenes black, 6–11 mm long, pubescent; aristae 2, 1–2.5 mm long, without barbs or with barbs connate to arista, rarely absent.
