Information
Perennial herb, woody, erect or ascending, 0.9–4.5 m high; stem much branched near apex, striate, sparsely hairy. Leaves rhombic in outline, bi- to tri-pinnatisect, 8–17 cm long, 4–15 cm wide, segments linear to narrowly lanceolate, sparsely hairy on veins above, glandular-punctate; pseudopetiole to 45 mm long, winged. Capitula in terminal lax corymbose cymes; peduncle to 4 cm long; involucre 8–10 mm long; outer phyllaries 8–13, 9–15 mm long, sparsely hairy, inner phyllaries 8–13, orange-striped, pilose; paleae yellowish, orange-striped, 4–7 mm long. Ray florets yellow, pistillate and fertile, 7–13, rays 15–22x3–9 mm, tube 2.2 mm long; disc florets yellow, 4.9–7.3 mm long. Achenes black, oblong to obovoid, graded monomorphic, 3.6–8 mm long, margins narrowly winged; aristae 2(–3), 1.6–3 mm long, antrorsely barbed.
