Information
leaves cuneate-oblong, shortly acuminate, serrulated or crenulated; flowers forming a long, pendulous raceme; pedicels short; calyx 3–4-cleft; fruit ovate; endocarp fibrous. Leaves 1/2–1 foot long, 3–5 inches broad. Raceme 1 foot or longer. Pedicels 3 lines, calyx 6 lines long, with ovate lobes. Petals ovate, 10–12 lines long. Stamens longer than the petals, but shorter than the style. Fruit 2 inches long, 1/2 inch wide. Seed the size of a walnut. The South African specimens are not different from those collected by Zollinger in Java, except that in the latter the pedicels are as long as the calyx or a little longer.
