pubescent with simple hairs; branches 1–2 ft. long; leaves 2–3 by 1/2–1 1/4 in. entire; petiole 0– 1/3 in. long; racemes 1–1 1/2 in. long, 2–8-flowered, unilateral; bracts 1/2–1 by 1/8 in., linear-lanceolate, spine-toothed or subpinnatifid; posticous sepal 3/4 in. long, elliptic, acute, marginal teeth many, strong, often 1/6 in. long; corolla blue, mauve or white (Galpin); tube 1/2– 2/3 in. long, linear-cylindric, at the top narrowly funnel-shaped; capsule 1/2 in. long, 4-seeded. null
