Information
Liana up to 40 m high or scandent shrub 3–8 m high; trunk up to 15 cm in diameter; bark red-brown, rough or smooth; branchlets minutely pubescent or glabrescent. Leaves petiolate; blade narrowly elliptic-oblong, rarely obovate, 3–8.5 cm long, 1.5–3 cm wide, acute to apiculate at the apex, cuneate, sometimes acute at the base, glabrous or puberulous to glabrescent; secondary veins in 6–17 pairs; domatia present, often red; petiole 3–20 mm long, minutely pubescent or glabrescent, with or without colleters above. Inflorescence axillary and terminal, few to many-flowered, dark pubescent in all parts; peduncles 2–29 mm long; pedicels 2–6.5 mm long. Flowers fragrant; sepals deltoid or narrowly ovate, 1–3.4 mm long, ciliate, with 3–6 colleters at the base; corolla tube white or yellow, sometimes purple-shaded outside, reddish-striped inside, funnel-shaped, 4–5.5 mm long, scales distinct or not, tufts of hairs at 0.3–0.7 mm from the base; corolla lobes white with a purple tinge or entirely pink, purple, red or yellow, narrowly ovate or oblong, 10–12 mm long,1–2.5 mm wide, obtuse at the apex; ovary cylindrical or subglobose; style up to 1 mm long, pubescent. Fruits dark red brown or grey brown, ribbed or smooth, sparsely pubescent, mericarps 15–105 cm long, up to 14 mm in diameter; seeds black, up to 32 mm long, coma 23–34 mm long.
