a small annual prostrate herb, drying blackish; stems and branches procumbent, 1/3– 1/2 lin. thick, puberulous; leaves alternate, small; petioles 1/2–1 lin. long; blades 1 1/4–3 1/2 lin. long, 1–2 1/2 lin. broad, elliptic or orbicular, obtuse or rounded at the apex, cuneate at the base, entire or with 1–3 obscure crenations on each side, thinly pubescent; stipules 3/4 lin. long, very broadly ovate, acuminate or mucronate, pubescent and ciliate, membranous; perianth of male flowers 3/4 lin. long, obtuse or with an exceedingly short point; female flowers 1/2– 2/3 lin. long, puberulous. null
