Information
stem ascending-erect, sparingly branched, branches cobwebbed, simple or ramulous; lower leaves oblong, upper linear-subulate, pungent, with revolute margins, strongly decurrent at base, rough with glandular bristles outside; pappus with interposed scales. Undistinguishable from A. Capensis by any character except that of the pappus! the lower leaves are sometimes as narrow as the upper. Drege's specimens (in Herb. D., Hk.) of A. sessilifolia, DC. have the leaves certainly decurrent, and a tuft of hairs at base of achene, and do not at all differ from weakly specimens of A. heterophylla.
