Information
Usually on rocks but occasionally terrestrial or low epiphyte; rhizome long-creeping, 2–3 mm diameter, with dark brown clathrate lanceolate entire rhizome scales up to 2 mm long. Fronds spaced, erect. Stipe shiny dark brown to blackish, 7.5–22 cm long, glabrous. Lamina 17–30x5–10 cm, 1-pinnate, narrowly oblong in outline with lowest pinnae hardly reduced but often more lobed, apex decrescent end attenuate. Pinnae in 12–20 pairs, herbaceous, like a curved paralellogram or narrowly triangular, up to 3.5–6x0.5–1.2 cm, dimidiate for about 1/2 of their length, petiolate, basiscopic base absent (= costa), acroscopic base parallel to rachis, serrate to double-serrate to dentate on the acroscopic margin, often doubly serrate towards the apex, basiscopic margin entire and formed by the costa for half or 2/3, the upper half or 1/3 double serrate or even slightly lobed; glabrous on both surfaces. Rachis shiny dark brown, glabrous. Sori 2–10(–14), confined to the outer 1/4 to 1/2 of the pinna, oblong to very narrowly oblong, set at an angle of about 30° to the costa, 2.5–3 mm long; indusium narrowly oblong, membranous, entire, 0.8 mm wide. CONSERVATION Widespread; least concern (LC). Luke & Luke5115 from T 7, Udzungwa Mts, has the sori spread over more of the pinna then usual.
