Epiphyte, rarely lithophyte; rhizome erect, 5–12 mm diameter, with dark brown lanceolate attenuate rhizome scales 3–7 mm long, with a paler margin with hair-like lobes. Fronds tufted, somewhat fleshy, erect to arching, to 35 cm long, not proliferous. Stipe greyish-green when dry, 3–18 cm long, very narrowly winged, with occasional brown lanceolate acuminate scales 1–2.5 mm long. Lamina dull green, generally oblong-elliptic to lanceolate, 9–26x2.5–7 cm, 2-pinnate to 3-pinnatisect, with basal pinnae hardly reduced. Pinnae 10–17 pairs, alternate, angled upwards, green, oblong to narrowly oblong-obtuse in outline, up to 4x1.7 cm, deeply pinnatifid with obliquely linear or spatulate lobes, the basal acroscopic lobe usually 2-fid, glabrous or with sparse scales like those on the stipe, to 1.5 mm long. Rachis grey-green when dried, narrowly winged, with occasional dark brown lanceolate scales to 3 mm. Sori solitary at or just below the apex of the lobe, set off-centre, oblong to broadly oblong, up to 2 mm long and wide, usually subtended on one side by a large or small triangular area of the lamina; indusium oblong to broadly oblong, membranous, entire, to 1 mm wide.
