Lithophytic and low-level epiphyte; rhizome erect to occasionally creeping (Faden 70/286), to 10 mm thick, with dense subulate brown clathrate attenuate rhizome scales up to 12 mm long with a few thread-like side lobes. Fronds tufted to rarely spaced (Faden 70/286), arching, not proliferous, thinly coriaceous. Stipe matt-brown, up to 18 cm long, densely covered with subulate hair-like scales similar to those on the rhizome, up to 8 mm long. Lamina lanceolate, 22–100x9–25 cm, 1-pinnate to 2-pinnatifid or 2-pinnatipartite on lower pinnae, acute, basal pinnae reduced, apical ones decrescent. Pinnae 20–36 pairs, opposite or alternate, lanceolate, 5–8.5x0.8–1.7 cm, base unequally cuneate, slightly auriculate acroscopically, shallowly incised into obtuse or shallowly crenate lobes, apex attenuate, sparsely set with dark hair-like and ovate long-acuminate scales up to 3 mm long or subglabrous; veins forked. Rachis with scales as on stipe. Sori linear, 4–6 mm long, set at about 15° to the costa; indusium linear, membranous, entire, 0.8 mm wide. Fig. 4: 4–5, p. 25.
