Var. calva Holttum without hooked hairs occurs on Mt Cameroon and similar plants in Réunion and the Comoro Is. Daubenberger 44 (Kilimanjaro, Kiboscho, 1907) bears the name Dryopteris bergiana var. glanduligera Rosenstock but I do not know if it was described.
