Information
Erect or scandent shrub up to 2 m high; branches glabrous to puberulous, terete, white, peeling off, with straight spines 4–17 mm long. Cladodes clustered, 2–15 together, flattened, curved, 10–60 mm long, triangular. Racemes 1–2.5 cm long, often condensed and umbel-like; pedicels 3–6 mm long, articulated at or below the middle. Bracts ovate, 1–1.5 x 0.5 mm, white, falling quickly. Tepals white, 2.5–4 mm long. Stamens shorter than tepals; anthers black. Ovary with 6–8 ovules in each cell; style 0.3–0.7 mm long, 2–3-branched. Berry red, 6–9 mm in diam., 1-seeded. Seeds 4–5 mm in diam.
